I have been a Stay-at-Home mama for over 7 years now. I have 3 boys. We have been living on one income for that long. Over the years, I have learnt a lot the hard way, but the Lord has prominently taught me about finance for the past two years.
I have been shying away from speaking about finance because I am not an expert, and there are times when I fall short. I am still learning how to be the best in our finances, but by His grace, I get better in Him every day.
Yahweh has instructed me to tell you what He has been teaching me. The Lord wants to free you from the burden of financial pressure. Of living stressed and anxious about your finances. Wondering and complaining about your finances. Living day by day, not knowing where your next meal will come from. Being thrown out when financial problems arise.
Not knowing where to get money for your child’s health emergency. Begging from your friends or family who have had enough of you. God wants to free you from financial debt. So here goes: May the Holy Spirit guide you and me. Over the next couple of posts, we will look at different aspects of Biblical Financial Freedom. Stay tuned. Sign up for the newsletter. Follow on socials, let us unpack Biblical Financial Freedom.
The Bible speaks a lot about finance. Many scriptures speak about finance. There were lots of rich/wealthy people in the Bible, like Abraham, King Solomon, Lydia, Jacob, Job, Joseph, The Queen of Sheba, Proverbs 31 lady, Alabaster box woman, King Ahasuerus (Queen Esthers husband), Boaz, Man with the talents, Isaac, Lot, Abigail and Nabal, King David, Amos, Zacchaeus, Dorcas, Philemon, young rich ruler who came to Jesus, Hezekiah etc.
Bible, wealthy people owned land /fields, animals, precious oils, exquisite spices, expensive clothes, precious stones like diamonds, pearls, silver, gold, luxurious homes, money (savings) etc.
When some Christians speak of wealth, they speak of it as a bad thing because wealth can be misused, and it can easily turn into an idol. But Yahweh says Money is not evil if you allow God to take control of your finances. We see many leaders and wealthy people in the Bible use their wealth for good. King Solomon and King David built God’s kingdom with their finances.
The Lord wants financial abundance and freedom for His people but He needs to transform your mind. God wants to change the way we think about money, our finance, our wealth. Money is the root of evil, but God made money for us to be comfortable, happy, blessed and live fulfilled lives.
See your finances as a gift, an inheritance from God.

God blesses us with money. You find your finances in God because He gives you the finances. He also gives the understanding, knowledge and wisdom on how to use them wisely. Do not chase after money, chase after God and He will bless you abundantly, according to His riches in glory. The Lord knows what you need before you even ask Him.
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 LSB
“The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. And my God will fulfill all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:9, 19 LSB
See your finances are a nest for you, your family, and the next generations to come.

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, And the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.” Proverbs 13:22 LSB
“But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8 LSB
“Keep worthlessness and every false word far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, Lest I be full and deny You and say, “Who is Yahweh?” Or lest I be impoverished and steal, And profane the name of my God.” Proverbs 30:8-9 LSB Nest prepares you for the present, gives you what you need in the now, daily need and future needs.
Nest secures your future, your children’s future and generations to come.
Nest is a safety net to be used when the unexpected arise (emergencies)
Your finance propels you and makes you happy or joyful in Jesus.
Your finance is supposed to give you peace of mind, rest in God, knowing that you have what you need for you to survive and thrive as a righteous Christian. You will not have to worry about what to eat, or wear, or sleep because God has already provided these things for you.
Your finances can lead to your purpose and calling in God.

Some people’s purposes are to finance the Kingdom of God. Whether it is building churches, up keeping churches, providing for the leaders of the church to meet daily needs (but not to a point of swindling riches). We find joy in giving and using our finances wisely according to what God has called us to do. Our finances may be used to create a Godly Business that increases your finance, tells others about God, spreads Gods peace and love and blesses others with jobs or money etc.
“Moreover, in my pleasure in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already prepared for the holy house,” 1 Chronicles 29:3 LSB
“Then the people were glad because they had offered so willingly, for they made their freewill offering to Yahweh with a whole heart, and King David also was exceedingly glad.” 1 Chronicles 29:9 Your finance in God gives you contentment and God’s peace.
When we use our finances well, more is given to us. God sees our faithfulness through the way we use our finance.
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’” Matthew 25:23 LSB
Your finances are a tool to expand Gods kingdom – financially and physically.

We give God tithes and offerings and the first fruit of our labour. This is used to expand and finance God’s kingdom.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 LSB
“Then the commanders of the fathers’ households, and the commanders of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with the commanders of the king’s work, offered willingly; And whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of Yahweh, in the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.” 1 Chronicles 29:6, 8 LSB
Your finances are a blessing for others.

We use our finances to bless others by giving. When we give it comes back to us ten times fold. When God blesses us with our finances, He gives more than enough to bless others. Our cup overflows. Giving is not only about physical money we can give and bless people in other ways; leading a room in your house, giving Jesus or teaching someone about Jesus, cooking a meal for your neighbour, visiting the sick, elderly, Widows, people in prison etc.
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’” Matthew 25:37-40 LSB
“Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”” Matthew 19:21 LSB
“But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!”” Acts 3:6 LSB
The woman and her husband provided a place for the Prophet Elisha to stay and gave him food each time he passed by. Because she obeyed the Lord blessed her with a son even when she was old and barren.
“And she said to her husband, “Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of God passing by us continually. Please, let us make a little walled upper chamber and let us set a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; and it will be, when he comes to us, that he can turn in there.”” 2 Kings 4:9-10 LSB
Mary and Martha provided a space for Jesus to stay.
“Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.” Luke 10:38 LSB
Jesus went to Zaccheus home to stay.
“And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”” Luke 19:5 LSB
The good Samaritan provided a place for the wounded man to stay.
“And he came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them, and he put him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And on the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.’” Luke 10:34-35 LSB
Lydia opened her home for the prophets to stay.
“And when she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.” Acts 16:15 LSB
“And they went out of the prison and entered the house of Lydia, and when they saw the brothers, they encouraged them and left.” Acts 16:40 LSB
“Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”” Luke 6:38 LSB
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.” Psalm 23:5 LSB
Your finances can be used as instruments to be stored in Heaven.

What you do with your finances will store up treasures in Heaven if you do it God’s way.
““Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21 LSB
Your finances are used to glorify God.

You can use your finance or status or wealth to speak to big corporations for donations or better policies and even better stewardship of the earth and its natural resources.
“making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Him for an administration of the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth in Him. In Him, we also have been made an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, so that you—the eyes of your heart having been enlightened—will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,” Ephesians 1:9-11, 18 LSB
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17 LSB
