Queen Esther: Your God-Given Purpose for Motherhood

A lot has happened in our country, and it was an emotional few weeks, especially with everything going on in schools and other places that should be safe for our children. Kids are being exposed to situations and experiences they shouldn’t have to face at their age.

My son is only 7, and I can’t imagine how a 9-year-old could go through some of these things. This blog is meant to be a safe space, so I won’t go into detail about what happened, but if you know, you know.

All of this made me really question myself as a mom. Am I doing enough? Am I there for my son the way I should be? Am I involved in how he feels, what he sees, and hears? It made me think of that Sunday school song: “Be careful little eyes what you see.”

Honestly, I felt inadequate, even though I try to be open with my son. But is he open enough with me so we can have difficult conversations? Can I do more? What am I doing wrong? Am I meeting him where he needs to be met?

I spoke to a friend about it, and she reminded me, simply, “For such a time as this.” God knows where we are, and He has us here for a reason. Our children were born in this generation for a purpose, and we are the mothers they need right now. It’s a divine appointment.

The Lord has been placing on my heart, ‘Praying for your children.’ There’s hope for the mother who prays. Let’s dive into the examples of the women / mothers in the bible.

Bible verses:

“Then Mordecai gave orders to say to Esther: “Just because you live in the king’s palace, don’t think that out of all the Jews you alone will escape. You might keep quiet at this time. Then someone else will help and save the Jews. But you and your father’s family will all die. And who knows, you may have been chosen queen for just such a time as this.”” ‭‭Esther‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭ICB‬‬

“Then Esther sent this answer to Mordecai: “Go and get all the Jews in Susa together. For my sake, give up eating. Do not eat or drink for three days, night and day. I and my servant girls will also give up eating. Then I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I die, I die.”” ‭‭Esther‬ ‭4‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭ICB‬‬

The Mother’s Calling: For Such a Time as This

Your role as a mother is a divine appointment. Just as Queen Esther was strategically positioned in her time, you have been chosen as the mother for your specific children in this unique generation.

Your Purpose as an Intercessor

Your primary spiritual purpose as a mother is to stand in the gap for your children as their prayer warrior.

Intentional Prayer

Your daily conversations with God become a lifeline for them. When you pray for their protection, wisdom, and salvation, you actively engage God’s power in their lives. These prayers are a powerful force guiding their paths toward the wonderful future God has planned.

Strategic Fasting

Fasting on behalf of your children for specific breakthrough areas or challenges they face adds weight and seriousness to your prayers. It demonstrates your complete reliance on God to intervene where you cannot. When you choose to fast, you are tapping into divine intervention, a seriousness of how much you trust God to step in and help.

God Chose You

No Accidents

Your motherhood is not a coincidence or mistake. God specifically selected you, with your unique strengths, your character and life story, to guide your particular children. You being their mother was intentional.

Leveraging Your Influence

You have unparalleled access and influence in their lives. A unique connection that no one else has. Use this important position wisely. Above physical care, feeding them, and keeping them clean, Add in spiritual nurturing, guidance, and empowering them to grow strong in their faith.

Changing Their Destiny

Your children’s future is not set in stone. A mother’s faith and prayers can bring change. Your child’s future is influenced by divine intervention sought through a mother’s persistent faith and intercession.

Breaking Negative Patterns, breaking curses, and building blessings for the next generations

Through prayer and fasting, God can break harmful family habits, break generational curses, and start a new path of blessing, faith, and purpose.

Shaping the Future

Your prayers can help shape your children’s lives towards the future God has planned for them. Things around them don’t solely decide their path. A praying mother makes a difference. You have the power to establish a new legacy of blessing, faith, and purpose for your family line.

Your prayers matter. Your faithfulness matters. You are the mother your children need

Your prayers are a powerful force that can redirect your children’s paths toward God’s intended destiny. Destinies are changed by God stepping in because a mother believed and never stopped praying for her children.

A mother’s purpose for her children is to:

  1. Nurture and guide them with love, wisdom, and patience.
  2. Pray for their well-being, faith, and future, acting as a spiritual intercessor.
  3. Set an example in character, values, and faith, teaching them to trust and follow God.
  4. Protect and provide for their physical and emotional needs.
  5. Encourage their unique gifts so they can fulfill the purpose God has for each of them.

Ultimately, a mother’s purpose is to partner with God in raising her children to become people of character, faith, and purpose.

“You are here for such a time as this!” Get on your knees and intercede for your children.

Shalom,

Following God’s Ways,

Natasha Chetty.
