Matthew 6 Prayer

Jesus Blueprint for Prayer; Matthew 6

Prayer is our personal connection with our loving Heavenly Father.

The most important thing the Holy Spirit places on my heart is prayer. Prayer for moms, Prayer as a mom. God keeps calling me to teach mothers what He has been teaching me about prayer and reading God’s Word as a mother.

Through prayer, we grow in relationship with Him as we worship Him, seek His will, share our hearts, and experience His presence.

Prayer helps us align our hearts with God’s purposes, surrender our burdens, and place our trust in Him. It is through prayer that we depend on God for provision, wisdom, strength, guidance, forgiveness, protection, and peace.

When we pray, we receive His assurance, rest in His promises, and grow in faith and obedience. Prayer is not merely asking God for things; it is communion with our Father, transforming our hearts as we walk with Him daily.

Matthew 6 teaches that prayer is first and foremost about a personal relationship with God.

Jesus instructs His followers to go into their private room, shut the door, and pray to their Father who sees in secret.

Prayer is not a performance for others, nor an attempt to impress people with spiritual words. It is personal, intentional communion with God.

The private room represents a place of meeting with God. The closed door symbolizes setting aside distractions and giving God our undivided attention.

Whether through private, whispered, or secret prayer, or in intentional times of communion, God sees what is done in secret and rewards those who seek Him.

Jesus reminds us that God is our Father. Prayer begins with relationship. Before we bring requests, we approach the One who loves us, cares for us, knows our needs, and desires fellowship with His children.

God already knows what we need before we ask, yet He invites us to come to Him in prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer then provides a pattern for how we should pray.

“Our Father in heaven” teaches relationship and communion with God as our source, creator, nurturer, protector, and loving Father.

“Hallowed be Your name” teaches worship, reverence, adoration, and honoring God’s holiness.

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done” teaches surrender. Prayer aligns our hearts with God’s purposes and calls us to let go of our own will so that His will may be accomplished in our lives.

“Give us this day our daily bread” teaches daily dependence upon God. We learn to trust Him for provision, relying on Him one day at a time rather than depending on our own strength.

“Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” teaches repentance, humility, and the importance of both receiving and extending forgiveness. A heart that forgives others remains open and free from stumbling blocks that can hinder our fellowship with God.

“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” teaches us to seek God’s strength, wisdom, guidance, protection, and deliverance in every trial and challenge.

“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever” reminds us of God’s sovereignty, power, and presence. Prayer shifts our focus from our circumstances to God’s greatness.

We remember that He is able, He is present, and He is in control.
Ultimately, prayer is about surrendering ourselves daily to God.

It is a place where we receive provision, forgiveness, guidance, protection, assurance, peace, and rest.

Through prayer, we grow in trust, deepen our relationship with our Father, and align our hearts with His will.

Prayer is not about being seen by others. It is about meeting with the Father who sees everything in secret, loves His children, and faithfully responds to those who seek Him.

Prayer is our personal communion with God through which we worship, surrender, trust, receive His provision and guidance, and grow in relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Prayer is a child coming to their loving Heavenly Father in personal fellowship through worshipping Him, surrendering to His will, trusting His care, and bringing every need before Him.

Prayer is coming to a loving Father we can run to with every need. One who desires a personal relationship with us and is always with us.

From Him we receive strength, wisdom, guidance, provision, and peace for our motherhood walk.
