Finding out about twin pregnancy at 6 months (26 weeks pregnant)

My first pregnancy with my singleton was a breeze. I was on the pill because of bad period cramps but I kept forgetting to take them. It was normal to miss my pees. I found out I was pregnant at 12 weeks. I only threw up once during my whole pregnancy.

Before I was pregnant with my twins (my second pregnancy), my husband was in a car accident. He had traumatic brain injury and was delusional and on strong medication. He kept mentioning a baby girl that he saw in his dreams or hallucinations.

The following year after his accident, in January, hubs was sleep talking and woke me up shouting at me not to sleep on my tummy as I will hurt the baby. And I was puzzled asking what baby. He went back to sleep. (Hubs doesn’t recall doing this).

Soon after, my birthday was in February. I was a big chocolate fan and hubs bought me everything chocolate. They all tasted so horrible and I didn’t eat them.

I knew from then I was pregnant. I then got that metallic taste in my mouth and all day nausea. There was a pie shop downstairs from where I was staying and the smell from their cooking always ticked me.

I went to the clinic they said they needed a scan to confirm the pregnancy. In March, I went to the doctor and paid R1000 to get a scan. The doctor had just come back from his long holiday and his mind was not into it. He confirmed I was 3 months pregnant (14 weeks). Confirming the night, hubs woke up yelling at me, I was indeed pregnant.

first scan at 14 weeks

I went back to the clinic with my scan and continued with the clinical visits. And began slowly buying and preparing for the baby. When I was 6 months, the clinic sent me to the public hospital to get a scan as clinics have limited equipment.

As I was waiting for the hospital visit, Dischem had a mama baby event were they were introducing postpartum checkups etc at dischem and baby city. They invited me for free as I’m a dischem baby club member. That was on a Saturday. I went for this lovely event.

They had a competition for the first 4 to register will get scans for free. So I was debating whether to go or not because coming Monday, I had the hospital appointment. I had the urge from the Holy Spirit to sign up for the free scan. I just got up and signed up, I was the 4th person to register.

Part 2 coming up soon.

Shalom and Thank you Jesus.

Following His Ways,

Natasha Chetty.
