It’s hard to wait when you really want something. When God tells you to wait, but you want this thing yesterday, how do you keep up the hope and patience that God will fulfill his promises when we wait?
I have been wanting a 3-tier wooden planter box so that I could plant in time for spring. I searched for the one I want but it was ridiculously expensive, I mean just for an empty wooden box, why should I pay R800 to R1200?
We searched but couldn’t find anything in good condition that was cheaper. Hubs promised to make me one. I waited for months. I kept looking for others and asking when hubs will make it for me. Then I gave up asking.

Remember, my husband has a full-time job, and we needed materials and time to make it. Springtime in September and October came and went. It’s now November and hubs just came home one day and quietly made the planter box for me.

It was a beautiful experience as my older son was giving him screws and building his own with small random cuts. I watched as hubs put it together, with all his concentration, things I don’t get to see when he is at work.
The planter box was finally complete. 2+ meters, 3 tier as I requested and so much better than the by-the-roadside planter box. And I love it even more because my husband made it for me, making it a sentimental handmade gift. I am so glad I waited for it, even though I waited impatiently.

I have learnt some very important life lessons in this season of waiting.
Good things come to those who wait.
“The Lord is good to those who wait [confidently] for Him, To those who seek Him [on the authority of God’s word].” Lamentations 3:25 AMP
My plans are not God’s plans.
““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 AMP

God has good plans for us.
“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 AMP
“In Him also we have received an inheritance [a destiny—we were claimed by God as His own], having been predestined (chosen, appointed beforehand) according to the purpose of Him who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His will,” Ephesians 1:11 AMP
I don’t know what you are praying for, I don’t know how long you have been waiting. You may have been waiting for years and months. It may not be a small thing like a planter box. But you are waiting for something or someone. God is reminding us to wait even when it’s hard.
He is reminding us that in due season our time will come. God provides everything we need according to His riches in glory.
“And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 AMP
And in Him His promises are yes and amen.
We should also ask through prayer and petition.
“Rejoice always and delight in your faith; be unceasing and persistent in prayer; in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 AMP
When we ask, we believe in hope and faith that it is done, and we leave our burdens at his feet.
Mama, keep waiting! Hold on tight! Don’t give up, soon you will soar on wings as eagles. God is in control.
There is light at the end of the tunnel.
And when you feel like you can’t wait anymore, ask God to give you, His strength.
Shalom & thank you Jesus,
Natasha Chetty.
