Experiencing God’s peace as a mother

Experiencing God’s peace as a mother.

Mothers are the worst worry humans. We worry about what to eat and drink. We worry about our children when they go to school.

We carry our children in our hearts, no matter where they go or what they do, we worry about them.

We worry about our children as they play. We worry about our husbands. We worry about everything. Because we are mother’s the responsibility of our whole families relies on us.

We carry the burdens of our families on our hearts. Even when we dont show it and must keep a smile on our faces as not to worry them.

We fight many unseen battles. We set the scene for our homes. Society doesn’t help with all the perfect moms we see on social media and how everyone feels the need to reprimand us or tell us how to take care of and parent our own children.

Society is also very judgemental when it comes to moms. They all become child experts and feel the need to correct you on how you must raise your own child, Ahem!

“Cover the child’s head, the child can’t breathe don’t cover his head, your child cant eat abc, you are carrying your child wrong, what a horrible mother are you for letting your child watch TV. Oh you are feeding them mac and cheese for dinner again tonight.” 🤨🙄

And we are not only caring for our selves but our children, our husbands, our homes. It’s a massive responsibility.

We wake up and our little one is ill, we must still focus on the days tasks, cooking, cleaning, caring for your husband, caring for little ones, managing our jobs or business.

Wearing our thousand hats etc. Our stress levels go up a notch. And it is hard to keep a sane mind especially with all the worries and stresses of the world.

We are expected by society to keep sane and multitask and keep everything running smoothly 100% of the time.

In steps God’s peace!

How do we as mothers keep calm and experience God’s peace in the midst of it all. While running around with a diaper in hand chasing your toddler, or driving frantically in your car late for your child’s school again. Or while typing on the laptop and you recieve a call from your child’s school, your child had an accident.

God’s peace is not only for when days are hard. God’s peace is also for days that seem all merry and rosy.

How does one experience God’s peace when everything around you screams chaotic?

In steps God’s peace!

In the next few days, I’ll be teaching on how we can experience God’s peace as mothers in this chaotic worrisome busy world.

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  1. The Holy Spirit is our peace. Before Jesus left his disciples know that he is sending us a helper. Our helper is the Holy Spirit. After Jesus baptism the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in form of a dove. The dove brought an olive leaf for Noah in the beginning.

The Holy Spirit has always been present.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Romans (8:26-27)

The Holy Spirit brings Gods peace in our hearts first so that we can then distribute God’s peace as moms to our nests, our bodies, our families, our homes, our environments.

Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22

With the Holy Spirit along comes God’s peace.

How does one get the Holy Spirit? As long as we are God’s child and have accepted Him as our personal Lord and Saviour. God gives us His peace – The Holy Spirit.

Christianity differs from other religions as Christianity is a relationship. And like every relationship, it needs to be built and cultivated. To a point where you know God’s voice and listen to it.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

John 10:27-28

How do we know the voice of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirits voice is usually the calm and collected one. It’s never the loud and noisy obvious voice and the more you spend time with the Holy Spirit, The more you spend time with Jesus and God. You learn to know His voice.

If your child or your husband calls you today on a different number. When you answer that phone call. You immediately know who that person is.

If you are in a crowded room or far away from your child or husband and they shout your name, your head immediately turns in their direction because you have spent time with them, you know their voice.

In a room full of mothers and babies, when your child cries, you know it’s your child. Because you cultivated that relationship with your child or husband. You know them. This applies to the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit guides and leads us and directs us. But his voice sounds similar to ours when we are having a debate in our mind. But when we spend more time with Him, we can differentiate the two and follow His wisdom and His peace.

In the next post I will touch on How do we spend time with the Holy Spirit?

Peace Shalom!!
