Abigial: Your God-given purpose for motherhood

Abigail: Finding Your Purpose as a Mother

Abigail was a wise and brave woman. She was married to Nabal, a very rich man who was rude and made bad choices. One day, David, who would become king, and his men protected Nabal’s sheep and workers. Later, David politely asked Nabal for food as a thank-you. Nabal rudely said no. David became angry and planned to get revenge on Nabal’s house.

A servant told Abigail about the danger. Abigail quickly packed lots of food and rode out to meet David without telling her husband. She bowed down and kindly asked David not to take revenge. She explained that her husband had acted foolishly. Abigail reminded David that God would protect him and make him king, so he shouldn’t do something he would regret.

David listened to Abigail. He thanked her for stopping him from doing something wrong. Abigail went home and waited to tell Nabal until he was sober. When he heard what had happened, Nabal was so shocked that he became very sick and died days later. After Nabal died, David asked Abigail to be his wife because of her wisdom and courage.

The Big Lessons from Abigail:

  • Abigail carefully understood the problem and acted immediately to stop disaster.
  • She was humble and used respectful words to calm David.
  • She trusted God to handle justice.
  • Abigail’s wise choices saved her family and changed the future.

Abigail shows that acting with wisdom, courage, and faith can make a big difference and help save others.
