Mothers are peace

We are called to be peace and bring peace as mothers.

When your child is sick or hurting the first name on their mouth is mama.

When your child is scared the first person they run to is mama.

When baby is crying frantically and mama comes to hold baby, baby immediately calms down.

When our children are fighting, they call for mama because they know mama will bring peace.

I have seen many grown women and men cry for mama when the pain they feel hurts so intensely.

Iv seen many videos where the child is crying and won’t be soothed. The caregiver or father gets moms t-shirt for her smell and baby immediately calms down.

When we rock, hum and sway baby.

when we respond to baby when they cry. We are planting seeds and baby learns to  trust you and that mama is peace and she will solve everything.

The beating of our hearts reminds them of being safely hidden in the womb for 9 months that’s why they want to be close to us, to hear our hearts beating. That is their lullaby.

Mothers are called to nurture and bring comfort and peace. Mothers are peace.

We set the scene for peace in our homes.

Comfort food. Comforting hands. Comforting hearts. Mothers are peace.

God created and called us to be peacemakers.

Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God” (Matt. 5:9)

Mothers are peace.

But we cannot bring peace when our hearts are under turmoil. Therefore we water ourselves first.

We wear the gas mask first on the aeroplane so that we are alive to save our children.

Watering our Wells takes effort, time and commitment. Yes, we are too busy to think about eating or taking a bath but those small gestures are very meaningful and needed to help us calm down and find our inner peace.

Spending time in nature. Taking a second to breathe. Doing our hair or nails.

Taking a long deep bath. Organising an at home spa. (When we look good. We feel good). Reading the bible.

Talking with friends and family who lift us up. Going to church or bible study. Watching inspiring videos and following inspiring accounts on social media.

Having a clean, clutter free, organised space is also one way to invite peace in our hearts.

Slowing down, being present in the moment. Asking for help. Sleeping a little later or waking up a little earlier to get some peace and quiet.

Finding a hobby for expressive release, creative and healthy output.

Adding beauty and nature touches to our homes and spaces.

Using nature and natural pieces in our homes, on our bodies, arround our homes. Etc

Getting enough rest. Staying away from negative influence be it on social media or in person. Stay away from the ones who disturb our peace.

Shying away from comparison and giving ourselves grace. Lowering our ridiculously high expectations. And just embracing the moment.

All these feed into our inner peace that we then project onto the outside. And into our homes.

Peace must be cultivated. It doesn’t happen over night. But once you get that inner peace everything else just falls into place. The Lord promises to be with us in the storm.

“Ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will not fear for you are with me.”

So we will have moments were we will walk through the storm. But the Lord promises to be with us.

He gives us His peace to weather the storm when we call His name.

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Colossians 3:15-17
